Sept 18
Dear Family,
Thank you so much for the package! I
absolutely loved the sticky notes!!! So dad, what did one missionary say to the
other missionary?? Oh my goodness I about died! Thank you so much for all of
the pictures and Reese's and for sending my iPod and my new speakers! :)
Bishop Dial is now President Dial?!
Wow!! He will be so amazing!!! So who is our new bishop?
Okay, you will never guess who is in
my ward!! ha ha I'll tell you in a minute. :)
So Saturday was basically the best day of my mission so far! We committed a girl to be baptized on October 7, and she came to church yesterday with her four year old daughter!
Then Saturday afternoon we visited with young couple. They have a little baby boy and they just moved her a couple months ago. We committed them to be baptized on October 7 as well! And they came to church yesterday too! After our lesson on Saturday we followed the role play that President Barry and Elder Cardon showed us at Zone Conference, and it worked perfectly! I asked the husband to say the closing prayer. He was hesitant, so I asked him what he was thankful for. He said his wife and his baby. Then I asked him what he would like God to help him with. When he told us, I told him that he had a prayer right there. When we knelt down his prayer was so sweet and so sincere. He actually left the room to grab a tissue after the prayer. Our lesson with them last Monday has really helped us to connect with them and to know what their needs are. I bore my testimony on the power of the Priesthood and how grateful I was to have it in my home. I told the husband that one day he could have it too. The wife said that she would really like to have that in her home. She has always dreamed of having the husband leading and guiding the family. In the prayer that the husband gave on Saturday he asked that he would be able to be a leader so he could guide his family. I love being a missionary and watching these people grow!
That night I got to see... are you ready?.... is the suspense just killing you?..... the Walters!!! As in the family that lived down the street from us for thirteen years! Can you believe it? I am still freaking out about it! I have been dying to tell you for days!!
So once upon a time Sister Gilbert and I decided to go see a Missy Walters, who was baptized within the last year and hasn't really been back to church since. Sister Gilbert told me that her dad was a less active member and her mom was not a member. So we get to the door and Missy answers. (I haven't seen her in 3 years, so, embarrassing I know, I didn't recognize her.) Then her dad answered the door. My eyes quite literally popped out of my head! I couldn't believe it. I think we just stood there for a minute. Holy cow! Coincidence? I think not! :) It is definitely a miracle that we are all here! Whether I am here to help them become an eternal family or they are here to help me feel more at home (I think it is both) I know that God has a reason for it.
I hope that all of you have an absolutely wonderful week!! I love and miss you all so much! Thanks again for all that you do for me! I appreciate your prayers!
Love,
Your 2 Month Old out in the Mission Field Sister Scott
