A Humbling Experience

Feb 18, 2013

Dear Family,

Oh boy. This week was crazy. I had a very humbling experience a couple days ago. Sister C., my new companion, was supposed to take the lead in finding activities last week. To kind of ease her into it I gave her a mormon.org card and said that I would knock on the door and talk for a minute and then she could give them the card. She gave the man the card and really struggled with it. She was so nervous. The next day we worked on building our character, because that is what we do best here in Julington Creek. :) I thought I would show her how it's done. Because I am oh so experience and pro, having been in the field for 7 months. Beware of pride! That was the worst day of my life! I can't even tell you how many doors I knocked on and left the people with confused looks on their faces. One house was particularly awful. I completely stumbled over my words, and it was just a mess. At the end of the day I had learned that none of us are perfect. And I should not withhold finding opportunities from Sister C, because she is "inexperienced. All of us are in the middle of our missions.

One of our investigators came to church yesterday! I think she really enjoyed herself. Gladys Knight is coming to Jacksonville in March for a song and testimony fireside, and our investigator is so excited to come to it.

Spencer took German, didn't he? That's where my guess is going. :) I am so so so so so so sooooo EXCITED for you!!!!! :)

I would love a copy of your talk, Kyle! That is so neat that you got to speak in Sacrament Meeting! And I'm glad that you were able to feel the Spirit and feel calm. On Valentines' Day I got to give a lesson on locking your heart. Missionaries are against romance. However, we are all about love. If we don't have charity for our investigators, we won't get anywhere.

I love you all!
Have a wonderful week!

Love, Sister Scott
